Dr. Barrington has over 20 years of health plan and health system experience and has served in an executive role for 16 years at various entities. Dr. Barrington is recognized nationally as a thought leader and expert in her field. She has served on several national boards and has been asked to lobby on Capitol Hill on numerous occasions.
During her career, Dr. Barrington has managed all functional pharmacy services and developed and implemented cutting edge strategies for all business segments, including Commercial, Medicare, and Medicaid. In addition, she has held positions responsible for managing and overseeing clinical quality performance.
As a pharmacy executive leader, Dr. Barrington has been very successful in securing the needed FTEs through building and delivering an appropriate business case. Dr. Barrington has been able to recruit high performing motivated talent for her positions. She has a track record for long term retention of staff and high employee satisfaction scores. Additionally, Dr. Barrington has successfully developed succession plans for key roles in her departments.
During her term as pharmacy executive for Health Alliance Medical Plans, Dr. Barrington was successful in transitioning pharmacy services in-house for all business segments in collaboration with the Health System. Staffing was secured to manage all pharmacy operational services, pharmacy benefits, and coordination of clinical pharmacy services. This included creating a pharmacy call center, as well as contracting, operations, clinical, and sales support teams. All services were managed by the in-house team except for claims adjudication. Dr. Barrington led a high performing team that generated significant savings and pharmaceutical rebates annually. Her innovative programs led to gaining and retaining business.
